CIA Support Cable re: Davidson Article (Case Closed)

This declassified CIA cable, preserved as two overlapping copies, documents internal correspondence about a man named Davidson who wrote an article and forwarded a copy to the Pentagon; the Pentagon relayed it to the Agency without comment, and the Agency in turn passed it to Colonel Grogan, Special Assistant to the DCI, remarking that nothing could be done about it. The cable states the Agency does not want any business with Davidson, arguing that giving him more names or addresses or offering a new channel of contact would only encourage further speculation. The author expresses a firm desire for no Agency involvement 'in this mess' and notes that any further action would only serve to get the receiving office 'off the hook' by involving someone else. The message is marked CASE (CLOSED). The text is heavily degraded by OCR and no clear date is legible.
