- Two brilliant objects flying at &n altitude of more than 4,700 meters .
were Seep over Peshawar on the night of 21 December. The ‘objects, coming from. eee
the southeast and thought to be flying saucers, disappeared in the direction So
of Afghanistan. Witnesses who saw the saucers said they emitted red and
green flames. [The Salopica daily newspaper, Makedonia, in its 23 Decenber
edition reported substantially the same facts on_this incident and ‘added thet
in January 1953 similar objects were seen over Peshawar, headed over the

Khyber Fess.}

Heretofore, Die Landstem has not been able to pudlish the foll story of
the iocident described below, which occurred on 26 May_1953. The incident was
reperted by the observer to the Department of Defense in Pretoria. The latter
acknowledged receiving the report but did pot wake it public.

Dr OD. Beyers of Uppington, while driving in his automobile from Capetown
to Uppingtm, -had reached a point about 80 miles south of Brandvlei (between
Kenhardt and Calvinia), when, at about 0510 hours, he euddenly saw a bright

object emitted three streaks of Light which maintained a fixed position with
respect to the main light. Beyers observed the phenosenon from 0510 until 0600.
He added, "I was under the impression that the object was following. me. because
each tive I stopped the car to watch it, it jocreased its altitude.”

DABOMEY, FRENCH WEST AFRICA”

LUMINOUS FLYING BODY SIGHTED AT DJOGOU ---Daksr, Paris-Dakar, 2 Nov 53

At about 2330 hours on 11 October 1953, many residents of Djogou in north-
west Dahomey observed in the sky en oblong-shaped, luminous object flying at
a high speed toward the north, at an alt¥mude of about 1,500 meters and on &
porizontal plane. This is the first _reported sighting of 4 so-called flying
saucer over Dahomey.

At adout 1545 hours on 9 December, Charles Huaut, 6 carpenter from Saint-  _

- Emilion, Gironde Department; observed @ luminous, golden, round object poised
motionless at a high altitude. After 10 minutes, it changed position noiselessly
apd assumed the form of several-horseshoes, weasuring about 100 meters do dfa- |
meter, enveloped in smoke trails. Then the entire phenomenon @isappesred.
Several other persons reported having seep it at the time indicated above. _

At approximately the same time as Husut wade his observation, a man named .
Sinonveau and his wife, from Surgeres, Charente-Maritine Departuent, saw AU
round object in the sky. _It glowed with the colors of the rainbow and flew at a
@ great speed from north to south. a

BRILLIANT WHITE DISK SIGHTED w= Nice, Nice-Matin, 12 Dec 53 -

Recently, Madet, @ civil servaot of Montlucon, Allier. Department, sighted
a vbrillisntly lumiosous white disk in the sky 6t approxiwately 2100 hours. It
was visible for 2 winutes, then traveled off at a great speed and disappeared,
without seeming to change its altitude, in the direction of the Auvergne Moun-
tains. A short vhile later, Madet saw a red, crescent-shaped object which .
appeared to be three times as large as the moon in its first quarter. The object
dissppesred at a very great speed toward the southwest.

UNIDENTIFIED AIRCRAFT AT MARIGNANE AIRFIELD <= Nice, Nice-Matin, 9 Jan 54

. Shortly after 2100 hours on k January, a round, luminous machine, coming
froa the south, landed at the Marignane eirfield in Bouches-du-Rhone Department.
There was only one witness present at the field: The machine disappeared while
‘he was telephoning the control tower.— Careful. scrutiny of the rupway ip the
morning tursed up a few pieces of metallic Aebris. The witness’ etory was con-
firmed by that of a Marseilles resident who, driving from Arles to Marseilles
sav a large, round, reddish, fiery ball in the sky, but placed the time at

LUMINOUS FLYING BODY SIGHTED AT DJOGOU -- Dakar, Paris-Dakar, 2 Nov 53

At about 2330 hours on 11 October 1953, many residents of Djogou in porth-

ROUND FLYING OBJECT SIGHTED AT LUNEVILLE -- Nice, Nice-Matin, 10 Jan 54° -
Tpree residents of Luneville, Meurthe-et-Moselle Department, claim to

have seen & round object flying from north to south at about 0600 bours on

9 January. The object flew more slowly than a jet plane and left a luminous

yellow trail. It flew noiselessly, elthovgh appearing to be at a low altitude.

Several students of the College.de Luneville also saw the object.

UNEXPLAINED PHENOMENON IN PUY -DE-DOME = SKY e- Nice, Nice-Matin, 10 Jan 54

Oo the morning of 8 January, the residents of the swall hamlet of Montha-—
leix, in the commune of Chambon-sur-Lac, Department of Puy-de-Dome, were awakened
by the sound of an airplane moter. The noise lasted From 0530 to 0730 hours.

Meteor expert Rertil Lindblad of the Lund Observatory has svomitted & reas-
suring report to the Swedish Defense Staff, regarding the flying saucer which . _
a Transair Airlines pilot, Capt Ulf Christiernsson, reported he saw on 17 Decen- a
ver over Hassleholm end the large ueteor sighted over southern Sweden, Bornholm, = -- -
and Denmark on 9 January. [For information on the meteor, see Jast story iv
this section.] In this report, Lindblad, who holds that the Hissleholm flying
saucer may well have been a weteor, "gave the scientific-explanation, from 6
military point of view, of the suspicious fact ‘that most'of the balls of fire
fly in from the east."

. Copenhagen, 5 December -- An unusually large meteor was opvserved today -
over large portions of Denmark at 1650 hours. The first reports came from —
north Jutland where the meteor was seep moving in a southwesterly direction at

Op the worning of 8 January, the residents of the £mall hamlet of Montha-

Meteor expert Rertil Lindblad of the Lund Observatory has submitted @ reas-
suring report to the Swedish Defense Staff, regarding the flying saucer which
a Transair Airlines pilot, Capt Ulf Christiernsson, reported he saw on 17 Decenm- _
ber over Bassleholm and the large weteor sighted over southern Sweden, Borpholm,----- = —-- =

‘this section.] In this report, Lindblad, who-holds-that the Hussleholm flying © UU
saucer may well have been a meteor, "gave the scientific explanation, from 6 .

LARGE METEOR EXPLODES -- Stockholm, Dagens Nyhever, 10 Van 54

A large ball of fire which was seen over Jarge parts of Skaanec, Blekinge,
Guesiand, and west coast of Sweden passed throvgh the sky over Lund at a speed
of about 10,000 kilometers per hour at about 1616 hours on 9 January. The ball _ _
disappeared in a westerly direction and emitted a long trail of sparks. Accord-
ing to reports from Denmark, the ball appeared to have exploded over Copenbagen,
leaving a suoke formation which remained for 10 winutes. Some persons thought
. & jet plane had exploded and others thought it was a flying saucer. Reports - _—-
streamed into the Swedish Air Force from all-over southern Sweden. - ‘

According ‘to Bertil Lindblad of the Lund‘ Observatory who witnessed the -
phenomenon, there is no doubt that it was a meteor with an-apparent diameter se
of one third that of the moon and a lunif®sity of the moon. The trail of the” ~~
meteor was photographed at the observatory. Oodsérver Nielsen, at the Ole Romer = :
Observatory in-Aarhus, Denwark, received reports of the meteor frou Aarhus and
Copenhagen. He is not of the opinion that it explod-d over. Copenhagen but thinks

The large ‘meteor sighted on 9 January clearly exploded.at a great altitude
over southern. Halleod.— Preliminary. calculations show that the meteor was. travel-

On 5 December at 1640 hours, a strange flying object was observed over Bad
Oldesioe [about 20 wiles west of Luedeck]. Eyewitnesses report that-it- wes-—-—
flying at an altitude of 5,000 to 6,000 meters and from northeast to southwest.

A trail of fire, as from a rocket, could clearly pe distinguished at the rear. -
apd on the side of the object. A police patrol which observed the object stated

On 5 Decenber at 1640 hours, 8 strange flying object was observed over Bad
