ball of fire suddenly appearing against a background of clouds, racing across
the sky from east to west and leaving behind a luminous pink trail. Apparently
increasing in volume, the object stopped suddenly, became bright red, and
seemed to explode, but the observer did not hear any noise. ; :

At 2115 hours on 14 August 1952, two persons in the city of Constantine

saw a luminous object flying at high speed-tovard Guelma, According tothe ..- = ---

witnesses, the apparatus, which had no resemblance to a flying saucer, emitted...

a very bright light. At the time-this happened, the local weather bureau had
not launched any weather balloons. —

The same day, at 1920 hours, many people at the docks of Philippeville .-
saw in the eky an enormous red disk going from north to west, leaving behind - =
a greenish trail.

SAUCER-LIKE CRAFT SEEN IN SPAIN -- Tangier, Espana, 12 Aug 52 - -

According to the Cifra news agency, on the evening of 10 August 1952, «
resident of Cuenca, Spain, while walking along the Cuenca-Madrid road, saw an
object similar to the so-called flying saucers. It crossed the sky at high

On the morning of 6 September 1952, a meteorologist was; taking weather
observations in Durban, Union of South Africa, when he sav a white object mov-
ing smoothly across his field of vision. © After two more bad appeared and
passal in the same manner, he called & coworker, with whom he observed three |
more gaucers. He was able to follow one of them vith a theodolite, which in-
dicated that the object was at a high altitude. It had about the same shape
as a weather balloon which was then at an altitude of only 3,500 meters. The
spherical objects appeared to be at an altitude above 6,500 meters.

Both men have been meteorologists for some time (the second man is the di-
rector of the weatber bureau at Natal). Their information was vritten into the
records of the lozal meteorological offices

THOUSANDS WITNESS SAUCER OVER MOROCCO AND TANGIER -- Casablanca, Maroc-Presee,

On 21 September 1952, at about 1820 hours, an unusual object, possibly 8
saucer, flew at great speed over Casablanca. Shortly aftervards, adout 15 tel-
ephone calls vere received fran local residents, and our Tangier correspondent

called to say that he hed seen the object going from east to west at 1815 hours

(about 2-5 minutes defore it flew over Casablanca!). Also, two observers in =~ ~~
the Nefifik River valley were able to time the passage of the object with a
chronometer; it was then 1817 hours, and the object was coming from the direc-
-tion of Rabat, traveling from east to west.

Some of the reports gave the following detaile about the object: luminous, .... -—--- —---

cigar-shaped, and giving off a silvery smoke trail; a luminous, whitish-greea

globe ending in a long cone and flying about 700 feet up, the same as a plane ~~
which flew by at the same time (outside of Casablanca); and 4 flaming, globe- ~
shaped mass trailing white smoke in puffs, as though puff followed-an explo= ~~
sion -- the object stopped short a woment and revolved on itself, emitting a

About 6,000 epectators at a boxing match in Casablanca saw the object =”

pess over the arena. In Louis Gentil, mumerous persons sav it at.1618 hours, = ee

flying from east to west. In Marrakech, it made its appearance for-5: seconds
at 1830 hours, when it was clearly seen by three persons who described it as -

a meteor, again traveling from east to west. .

for 10 seconds and about 50 meters in the same direction as the flying saucer.

answered spectfMic questions put to him end gave the follewing information:

As he was preparing-to land at an airfield in Casablanca, at 1825 hours, ©
he noticed the strange object about 30 meters to-the left of bis plane (a
ground mechanic later verified this, as he saw a luminous object fly between .
himself and the plane). It was flying horizontally from east to west, along  § __-
the same line of flight as that maintained by Creze. The latter wes doing 220° - > —-
kilometers an hour at the time, at an altitude of 450 meters, and the object ........
was going about twice as fast. He motioned to his passenger, who saw it too.
It looked like a bright dDlue-green flame and had an oblong cigar-like shape.
Re heard no noise coming from it. After-it passed the plane, it disappeared
in the direction of the sea. The pilot did not attempt to pursue it, fearing
the same fate as thet of the US pilot /Captain Mantell7.

That same evening, in Azemmour, Frenth Morocco, a French couple and their
farm vorkers heard a loud explosion as the atrange flying object passed by.
Tois is the first report we have of any sound heard from such objects. Other. .
reports were received from Fes, Meknes, and Safi, where in each case the sight- =
