CIA-UAP-D023, Briefing Notes for Mr. Walter Elder

CIA briefing notes prepared for Walter N. Elder, Executive Assistant to the CIA Director, concerning a series of unidentified object flying object revicinity of Puerto Rico on 16, 17, 18, 19, and 24 November (allegedly 1964). Per the briefing, the guided missile destroyer USS Gyatt tracked a radar contact exceeding 3,600 knots for twenty-one minutes on 19 November while working an F-8 Crusader at 35,000 feet. The object reportedly slowed and held position nine miles from the fighter, then accelerated away in a steep climb when the Crusader engaged afterburner; it later reclosed on the fighter returning to Roosevelt Roads Naval Air Station. A 24 November event again involved a high-speed, high-altitude target pulling away from another Crusader. A pilot described a delta-shaped object about the size of a jet fighter observed in full moonlight in good visibility. This entry pairs with CIA-UAP-D022 covering the same subject.
